“I rarely leave my dog outside a shop, but I did that day because she was with me. I just popped into the corner shop on Talbot Road. I can’t even remember what for but I was not in there more than a few minutes. When I came out Poppy was gone. No lead, nothing, I was absolutely astounded. I just could not believe it.
It seemed ridiculous but someone must have just stolen her from outside the shop. I thought whoever had her was probably on foot and could be just round the corner so I got in my car and drove around. I looked for about two hours, but I never saw her, she had just disappeared. The only thing I could do was tell everyone I knew and ask them to help me find her. I felt helpless.  
Three days later I got a call from a friend of a friend, a girl I only knew vaguely, saying she had rescued Poppy! Apparently she had seen her by chance in a street about half a mile away with a woman. This girl

went straight up to her and demanded she give Poppy back! When the woman tried to argue, she threatened her with the Police! I was so, so lucky. I would never take that risk again, it could easily have been very different.”
